lately my headlights dim and the idle gets a bit rough when I step on the brake pedal. These sound like unrelated occurrences to me, but it happens every time. Also, when I raise the headlights my radio volume drops temporarily and the idle also slows down/ gets a little rough as well. Any thoughts are welcome.

I'm sorry, its a '67 327-300 with AM/FM, tinted windshield and 4 speed. A pretty basic model with few options.Comment

Louis has given a good analysis of what is probably happening although his dire prediction for doom is a bit strong for my personal taste (but not out of the range of possibility). You could try increasing your idle speed a little as you might be on that low end "ragged edge" where just a little bit of change in conditions results in a big change in smoothness and alternator output.Comment
