    1971 Wiper Motor

The wiper motor off my 1971 roadster has a casting number on the back side that reads 4939300, Delco Products, Dayton Ohio, Made in the USA. It is a late 71, April 29 and the washer pump is a 3 port. Can anyone tell me if this is correct for my car as far as casting number. I have found a NOS wiper motor but it has the casting number of 4815077 I think, it was hard to read. Also a Delco Product but was built in Rochester NY. Any info appreciated.
    Thanks

I believe the correct casting was GM #4939300. I don't know what the 4815077 is. What is the ASSEMBLY PART NUMBER of the NOS pump you found? It may be found on a label attached to the motor section of the SERVICE pump or on the box the SERVICE pump is supplied in.

      Joe,
The gm number on the box for the wiper motor assembly is 4919437. It does not have a washer pump with it.

        Sheldon----

GM #4919437 is a 69-71 Corvette washer motor assembly. It's the original part number for the SERVICE motor assembly which should be the same as that used in PRODUCTION. However, the PRODUCTION assembly included the washer pump and, consequently, had a different part number for that complete assembly (found on the label on the motor section of PRODUCTION units). SERVICE motor assemblies never included the pump.

The casting number you found on the SERVICE pump may be an alternate casting number. The GM #4919837 motor assembly was manufactured for a long time and changes might have occurred over that time. I have several NOS 4919437 pump assemblies but I don't want to try to get at them right now to check for casting numbers.

          Joe,
There is a ink stamp on the unit that reads S1268, would this be a date stamp.

It may very well be so, but I don't know what it decodes to.
