C-1 master cylinder rebuild

Does anyone have any advice on rebuilding the master cylinder on my '61?
I have the rebuild kit from Corvette Central but haven't torn into it yet.
Thoughts on cleaning solvents, bore surface prep, and assembly lubricant (if any) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Richard, in the past, I have cleaned the bore with brake cleaner. Make sure the bore can be honed to a smooth surface, no deep scratches or pits. When honing, I use a standard FLAPS hone and lube it with fresh brake cleaner. Clean it out with brake cleaner again ( real well) and assemble using brake fluid to "lube" the cups.

If the bore of the master cylinder is pitted or has undergone previous rebuilds, creating too much clearance between the piston and the bore, the old bore can be sleeved by specialty shops.

My 62 master cylinder was sent out to White Post Restorations and was resleved and rebuilt to better then new condition.
Well worth the money.
