    Tie Rod Ends

Paragon offers a "correct" tie rod end for $49 ea or a "replacement style" for $16 ea. Is the correct style actually correct for my '66 or does it matter? There is a difference in the look of the forging and boot. Long Island offers only one style for $21 which looks like the Paragon replacement style piece. Want to maintain originallity. Thanks

        Hi George:

I looked at the photos on the Paragon web site, and the more expensive tie rod ends are much more similar to the originals than the less expensive parts (not surprising).

I can't tell from the photos whether the Paragon parts are exactly correct, but they probably aren't. However, the differences may not be enough to get a deduction in judging.

If you have time to shop, NOS versions of the correct parts (GM 3826596 and 3826814) show up on ebay from time to time. Typical selling prices are in the same range as the Paragon reproductions.

Thanks Joe. I'm not in a real hurry for the parts so will check out the NOS market.
