    1969 Rally Wheel Paint

Has anyone found a good rattle can paint? Has anyone tried the Eastwood product or Ecklers or anyone else? I have read several threads on this topic and I keep hearing that you need to custom mix it to have a correct silver green cast color. I may be kidding myself but one would think that with so many of these wheels around that some supplier would have come up with a proper color.

I used east woods color. It was close but not exact. the original did have a slight green tint to it. I have the original spare and can see the difference.

There were only 2 sources that I know of for off-the-shelf "green tint" 68-70 rally wheel paint-----Quanta and OEM Paints. Quanta discontinued it several years ago. OEM Paints discontinued theirs within the last several months.

Rally wheel paint varied quite a bit over the years. The original paint on my original owner 1969's rally wheels was considerably darker than the rally wheel paint that is generally available from most suppliers (without the green tint). My wheels definitely had the green tint, though. It was readily apparent in the area under the hubcaps.

I had the paint custom-mixed from the originals. It came out near-perfect. It was expensive, though.
