    67 Frame Stencil - Doesn't Exist Correct?

    I am getting ready for round two of judging on my car. I have taken care of all of the problems from last year.

    I just wanted make sure ONE LAST TIME - my 1967 corvette frame should NOT have a frame stencil on it - correct??? I lost all points last time on the frame.

    Kirk, I have seen photos of known original frames that had a stencil on it.

    Are you wondering about whether there should be a stencil at ALL or what the CONTENT is of the stencil?

      I was definitively told by "the experts" that no frame stencils at all were put on corvette frames in 1967. Apparently, the judging manual even states so. So, I painted over the one I had stenciled on my car in preparation for the judging. Is that not correct?

        Kirk,

        Somebody is pulling your leg.

        Here's my 67 frame stencil:

        First time off with the rocker panel and just with a little cleanup. Upside down picture.

          No, it's not - check the Chassis section, item #11 ("Frame") on page 140; it describes the stencil and shows an example.

            Thanks. Man, I wish I had left it on. Oh well, just have to do it all over again!

              Hello Kirk;

              Was "the expert" referring to no handwritten frame date on a "67 ?

              Just my 2 cents.

                There is no handwritten date on '67 frames. '66's yes, '67's no. PT

                  Kirk. 67's definitely had a painted frame stencil on the side rail. Anyone who says that there was no such stencil is wrong. I bought a '67 survivor a few years ago from East Texas. When I pulled the body, there was the stencil.

                  Just continue doing your research and stand your ground as needed.
                  Good luck.

                    Went back and reviewed my notes and as usual I mixed things up. 67's did not have a handwritten pull date, which is what I painted out on my rail. The stencil is still there. Sorry for mixing them up.
