    Correct Camber Bolts

My camber bolts were pretty pitted so I bought a couple used originals.
One has a circle with an M inside.
The other has GM with a smaller H below that.
They all have degree marks. My originals look like they do not have any of these letters at all.

Which ones are correct for 1973?

    Thanks, Chris
    Chris

    Re: Correct Camber Bolts

    Hi Chris,
I'll reply with info. from my 71.
The cam assembly is unmarked as yours is. The loose cam has a stylized 'f ' in a circle. The cam assembly does have the degree marks as you note.
I've also seen the cam assembly with an 'M' on the hex head, and a stylized two prong 'fork' on the cam, on other used parts I've looked at.
    Different suppliers... what a surprise!
    Regards,

      Alan,

All of mine do have the stylized f on the loose cam. Thanks for the info on yours. Did you mount the f on the outside so it can be seen?

Maybe the bolts with the headmarks are used on later year cars??

      Thanks again,
      Chris

Here's a few that I have. Left is off a '64. Right side in the pics is eBay purchase (yr. unknown).

The '64 is pitted, but seems no "M" on the cam (as is on right pic). 2nd pic surprised me with the longer bolt off the '64 ? Wonder why ?

3rd pic shows the loose cam from the right example, with the "flying F" stamp. This was NOT on the '64 assembly. I have another set of cams off my 396, but they're so covered in grime (probably well preserved, though) that I don't need the extra excercise.

4th pic is not on topic, and may have even been discussed in earlier years; of course, it's the big washer on the rear spring hangers. edge is bevelled on one side only (faces rubber cushion); and pic shows the other side [sharp edge], which faces the ground. Therefore, the markings (yeah Canada ) should be visible during judging, even with the bolt present.

            Hi Chris,
Yes, I did install the loose cam so the mark can be seen. Since that cam is to the rear of the car the spare tire tub hides it a bit unless you get really LOW.
