Run flats are very heavy, increasing the unsprung weight at each corner and making the car handle like a squirrel on an icy pitched roof.

I've gotten 40k out of my 00...I don't do road trips and shopping for the Michelin Pilots as we write. They are noisy as hell

You will be pleased with the Pilots.

That would be a bad thing, right? I'm either easy to please or my 96 is the exception to these complaints. I like the run-flats, and my C4 is by far the best handling car I've ever driven.

How are you driving? I don't know anyone who is getting that many miles form the Run-Craps. And mine were/are noisy from the beginning -- but it depends on the road surface. Some roads they are quiet like a Cadillac and others they make so much noise I can't talk to the passenger.

Oh, and don't get me going about driving in the rain. Chevrolet made a fine car but it sucks as a boat. On the Road Tour we floated around St. Louis. The old cars had no problems, but the water in the truck ruts had ALL the C6s hydroplaning. I think raising the pucker factor that high takes the fun out of a drive.
ZO-6 and Z-51 RF tires are not good in the rain because they are designed for track days and auto crossing with little or no rain grooves like the std C-6 corvette RF tires so they have more rubber on the ground so they hydroplane in standing water. been there seen that happen.

to get more mileage from your front C-5/C-6 tire set the camber to as close to "0" as possible as they are set at a negative number for high speed cornering from the factory and wear on the inside edges very quickly

My 06 has Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's (non-RF) and I'm very happy with them. The Goodyears were Fred Flintstone tires compared to these. As for the lack of spare with the non RF's, call AAA.

I'd have to go look back over prior issues to find it, but they seemed to recommend this system. I got 32,000 miles on my original C5 Goodyears before changing to new Michelin Pilot Sports that are much quieter. The originals were also very noisy in a convertible. The CE article as I mentioned was very informative about various options.
I run the Michelen Pilots also and they are quiet and good in the rain.
