      Hi Bill,
Self publishing is the way to go these days......a good way to advertise it would be on Twitter. Or some similar type of social media.

Some self pub. places will also place the book in several markets such as Barnes & Noble.
And with some of them you can have them print one or 1000 at a time.

I would be happy to promote it on my art business blog when it is up and running (learning HTML has been the pits, but you may be more computer literate than I am).

Lot of options out there.......seems you have a gift. Would be nice to see it put to print.
      Best, Sandy

        Sandy:

Thanks very much for you kind words and offer. I have to step back and get myself educated and I have a book on the way which will help. For example, I went to LuLu.com and there are so many decisions that must be made when you self-publish...and I have no basis for choosing amongst options. I did note that this site has marketing/distribution arrangements with both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Won't take me long to get a handle on the basics as now I know nothing.

I'll keep you posted. ...and again, thanks.

          Hi Bill,
When you compare self pub. sites pay attention to what their predetermined format is......options are pretty limited in a lot of instances. Some will allow photos....predetermined number of them and placed where they want them.

I have several friends that got their own bar code# from the government, did their own layouts and then contacted a self publisher to finish up details, proof read, make suggestions, hold your hand, whatever it takes to get it ready for printing. This is what I will probably do when it comes time to publish my own books.

The book you ordered may have a lot of that kind of info in it.......

My blog site (tied to my web site) will be a place where I will promote my own art, but I would also like to do features on other artists. I consider you in that category.

Best of luck in your venture......when you get it all figured out, I'll probably want to know how you did it.

          Sandy

Bill most of the good Autobiographies I've read have one thing in common. Don't let to much of the truth get in the road of a good story ! Stewy

Bill I'm not sure why George Hearst was portrayed as a murdering, evil, greedy, mongrel in the HBO series Deadwood. There were comments like " I'm not meant to cross people like myself " meaning murderers and evil practicing people, comparing himself to Al Swerrengen as the same ! I have studied the History of him and cannot find a single bad word anyone has said about George Hearst ? Maybe HBO must know something I don't ! His castle does reflect the amount of money he collected from the gold mines. He was a walking magnet to gold, lead and silver and probably the richest man in America in his time. Stewy

                  Bill,

If you go ahead, I'd recommend that you consider an Editor. I love the stories but do note occasional misspellings, misues of words and phrases, etc that could be "cleaned up" if you went so far as to publish. Just nitpicking.

                              Terry, I think there were probably 3 reasons;

                              1. $$$

                              2. $$$

                              and

                              3. $$$

He probably would have slept with one eye open if they had lived together.

                                Bill,
Don't know what kind of a program you're going to use for your book....ran across this open software recently, OpenOffice. www.openoffice.org
Has all kinds of wonderful uses, including book writing with unlimited graphics.
Best part......it costs nothing to upload and use. Not a trial, either and it's used by some pretty big companies.
An editor does come in handy, or even spell check.
