    C3-1971-Shocks and Ride Height

My 71 small block is a nice driver. I was thinking about new shocks. I'm curious if the installation of new shocks will change the height of the car (particularly the distance between the top of the rear tire and the lip on the quarter panel)? I like "the stance" my car has currently but it's OK if it raises a little.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Greg, as Terry says shock do not support the weight of the car, your springs on the support system, those end bushings do flatten over time and may help raise the rear of the car aliitle and also torque strut bushings that are gone will make the rear wheels tilt outward and will also add to the problem of ride height if not corrected.

Good thought on the strut rod bushings Ed. I had forgotten about those.
