I kept thinking maybe when it dries it dries to black..NOPE it is a loud yellow mustard finish looks awful.

. Would it be possible to clean off the exposed yellow glue once it dries and still leave the weatherstripping in place? Although this would add extra work to your project, it would save your weatherstripping (and save you money). If you are able to remove the yellow stuff anyway, why not remove only the mess that is exposed? You can do the left side the same way if it's not too difficult to remove the mess, or you can exchange the yellow crap for the black stuff. The "fix" won't look too bad in the morning after a nice cocktail and a good night sleep
