My wiper door opens a soon as i turn on my ignition switch on with my wiper switch in the off position. I didn't have this problem prior to removing my engine. I have verified my hoses are connected properly from the relay valve to the vacuum can. When I reverse the hoses on the vacuum can the wiper door will close. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Re: 68 wiper door problem
I suspect you have a leak in your wiper door vacuum system. My left side headlight door would open and close when I would start my '68. I replaced the vacuum relay valve and that solved the problem. Look for leaks, cracked or loose hoses. If that doesn't work, you may want swap the headlight and wiper door vacuum relay valves and see if that solves the problem. If the issue then moves to your headlights, then it's probably the vacuum relay valve.- Top

Re: 68 wiper door problem
Brandon I assume when you say with the ignition on you mean engine running. For the door to open vacuum must be removed or reduced at the relay top of the can with the white striped hose. In normal operation this is done with ether the solenoid behind the Tach or the override under the steering column. Then the porting in the relay shuttles to allow the door to open this can be caused by a leak. Also look at the wiper arm passenger side make sure the arm has moved the vacuum switch to the parked position. If it isn't this will vent vacuum off the door relay at vent hose at the firewall and can cause the door to open. Paul 18046- Top

Re: 68 wiper door problem
I don't think '68 had had the vacuum valve under the passenger side wiper arm.- Top
