Which item has so far caused the largest percentage failures in PV judging for early C4's:

1. Emergency brake warning light.
2. Idle speed change profile during warmup.
3. Rear hatch glass helper pistons.
4. Cassette tape player operation.

Joe I don't know, but will guess #4 cassette tape player operation since some repair parts are not available.

Of the above choices, I'll pick #3.

But MY choice for greatest failure line-item is windshield wiper pattern, park position of arms, or something to do with the wipers.

Yeah, them pesky hatch glass helper pistons, with WW operations a close second.

My 93 and another gentleman's 89 failed the wiper portion of the PV, but we were both fortunate to receive our PV on the first attempt. I am looking forward to the 2010 national event in Charlotte.

The cassestte and CD are almost always toast on these cars. Speakers are another weak area, just to make the whole thing twice as expensive. Good news is, Bose will rebuild the speakers with a heavier cone paper, which they should have done to begin with. It's the American way, though. Build a POS and then charge to fix it.

Could you clarify how you both received your PV on the first attempt but both failed the wiper portion of the PV? Regards,

I initially had my 93 PV'd in Denver, Colorado, in a blowing snow storm (check the weather before you attempt). My failures were many. Both Sport Seats would not inflate, those rear window rods don't like cold, or altitude, and the windshield wipers did not park in the proper alignment. Thanks to a good friend, got all fixed, and made PV in Bend, Or.

We were able to adjust the wiper in 15 minutes and that was our only deduction.
