Did the width of the white wall change from 65 to narrower in 66/67?

Yes -- in '65 the Tech manual says "approximately" 1" in width. The pics below, taken in Nov'64 at Shriner plant delivery of 15 new convertibles provides a shot of rear wheel. 2nd pic is a blowup, which when scaled on the computer screen calculates to 1.0" width.
I attach a thumbnail (located at bottom) of the original owner of my '65 coupe # 014xx, probably taken in 1965 or 6, in Flagstaff AZ. Believe you can see that he's already got a different (thinner) set of whitewalls on the back; after all, L76 with 4.11's and air (note the nose sitting lower)

I don't know if General or the 4 other whitewall tire suppliers might have had slightly different widths. I have a (year unknown) non-DOT 7.75 US Royal and a set of repro Firestone Deluxe Champions, and they are both 0.86" wide. The US Royal might be 1966 vintage.
