    55 at Carlisle

55 was being sold to highest bidder at the end of Saturday. Heard the high bid on Friday was $56000. Looked like most of the parts were there with original motor.

The color is no where near the original copper color unless the camera pic is WAY off. People argue about broach marks so I guess it don't pass that ether but looks OK to me. Hope some one in NCRS got it and will give out it's info later here.

Current color is repaint. Copper was clearly seen in trunk area. For those wondering about red seats, story was that these were offered to owner free from a 54/55 about to be burned-and it was! This was one of two Corvettes that really grabbed me. The other was a silver blue/daytona blue 63 FI coupe for $84,000. Just like one of my old cars, so maybe that was the attraction. I would gladly have brought either back to Maine but my wife said that really wasn't a good plan. Still, great time once again at Carlisle.

Thanks for posting the pics Bill. I was hoping someone would take some pics so Roy Braatz could see them, I didn't have my camera. Interesting car. I noticed the un-restored silver blue '58 FI car was there, still unsold from last year (price $84K this year).

Yes, same guy that was selling the car from last year. He mentioned that he hired a kid that spent nine hours "cleaning" the car. Also said someone stole his gas cap Friday night.
Car was near the top of the hill; last row along the fence.

In the 2nd picture, the top of the dash appears to be the original paint. Or at least, the original copper color.

car number is approximately 609. has original air cleaner! picture on car taken in 61-62 with owners of the car. no ignition shielding, no wiper bag, alternator instead of generator, different distributor assembly, radiator appears correct, carberator 2nd design (no bellcrank). could only see single exhaust pipe under car. original exhaust system long gone. copper color in trunk area, seller has set of side curtains. damage under headlights, otherwise body pretty good. dash had a chrome panel surrounding gauges. hard top actually looked water tight, with an additional rubber strip on the back fitting perfectly to deck of car.............

Many people installed the after market dash plate in those days! Rare to locate one today.
