Looks like Corvette America has an updated edition of their reproduction bolt on wheel for 1967. Has anyone seen them yet? Was looking at the ones out of California prior to hearing about these.

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
I agree, I checked out both their prices up at BG and talked to the guy from America Finest, he seemed pretty knowledgeable about the way they were both made. Before you buy I suggest you call him up. Plus with the 5-6 pages of ads they run in every Driveline they are big supporters of NCRS. Good luck, Shooter- Top

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
I recently purchased a set from the "guy" out in California. The fin width, lip and texture of the wheels is really really nice and accurate. However, with all the suppliers it seems noone can get the color correct. The inserts are a hair dark. They look unreal on my car, and costing one fifth of what an original set costs - I can drive on them without the paranoia. The Goodyear Bias Ply power cushions Red Lines finish the look off beautifully. Still have the original DC's in the house, but on a silver car the bolt on's look nice. On any colored car for that matter. ARA- Top

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
I have not observed either of the current generation KO's but members reporting on this board report they are much closer to the original KH wheel than previous reporductions. It amazes; however, me that the color chosen for the finish is not correct.
You would think that when designing the wheel to be as close to the original as possible and then putting it into production, someone would pay close attention to the color of the paint or powdercoat, whatever it is. Select a color, apply the finish to a test wheel, check the color, do a small production run, check the color, modify the color as necessary.
Maybe there are no NOS wheels around to use as a basis? If that is the case, how do we know the current wheel is the wrong color? Maybe "close enough" is acceptable? Perhaps the current wheel color is darker than what is observed currently on an old wheel in order to get the color to what is presumed to be the original color before color fade?
Just wonderin'.- Top

Shortly after retiring from my real job in the spring of 2005, for a period of time I was dealing in vintage NOS Corvette parts. A client of mine from the east coast, contracted with me to find an original NOS set of '67 bolt-ons. I just checked my notes, and I had found a set for that client in Septemeber of 2007, still in GM boxes, as well as a full set of NOS starbursts in GM, correct era boxes. According to my notes, the price for the four NOS bolt-ons was $20K (did not include the starbursts), which my client "passed" on. I heard a couple of months later, that the bolt-ons had been sold.

Ara,
"On any colored car for that matter. ARA"
I disagree, when I purchased my 67 Goodwood Green roadster and the previous owner had repro (good quality Western) Bolt-On wheels with blackwalls. It was too much for me and I refinished the provided original Rallye wheels and put redlines on and in my mind changed the look of the car. The bolt-on continue to collect dust.. But, hey, thats what makes the world go around.

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
I purchased a set of the Americas Finest Wheels over a year ago and am more than pleased with them. At that time they most closely replicated the look of the original KH wheel and the starburst fastening method is superior to stock and I don't worry about them falling off and being lost. They balanced well with my Redlines and my tire/wheel guy commented that they were a very nice wheel and seemed to be of high quality.
Based upon my experience I have no hesitation to recommend these wheels to anyone.

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
RIck, I understand what you're saying, but your bolt ons had black walls. That's the one set of tires I personally don't care for with bolt ons. Your car looks gorgeous with the Rallys and the red lines. I think that your car would look equally as good with bolt ons and red lines. The Black walls for wahtever reason don't do it for me, either on the rallys or bolt ons. Just my personal opinion. Nice car and nice garage by the way. ARA- Top

Re: New Bolt on Wheels 1967
Tim,
They are Coker 205x75x15. I would not recommend them though due to poor construction and weak sidewalls. I am a retired police officer and had many years of pursuit driving instruction and used a quick lane change maneuver awhile ago. It was not a pleasant experience.Duke Williams recommends, I believe, Pirelli P4000?? as it is a speed rated tire. I will check that in the archives, to confirm that is the correct model before buying them. I also understand that DiamondBack tire can now put a redline on that Pirelli tire which they couldn't before because the sidewall would gum up when putting the redline on.
Ara,
That is not my garage but it was inside our Mich NCRS sponsors dealership for flight judging. Thanks for the compliment
