Test Firing of the engine after restoration

    Aaaah,

After a very long, arduous restoration I was finally able to test fire the engine.

There's a lot of Blood, sweat and more Blood when you restore these pigs, but some times (on a few rare occasions) things sometimes go as planned.

She fired right up with just a little pumping of the Gas. The choke worked as set, then she started to overheat slightly. Shut her down and add the last Gallon and a half of coolant, and refire her.

Temp is good (cool actually) She purrs with a nice throaty rumble from the side pipes with instant throttle response rapping up like she wants to go.

And best of all, not a single drip from any of the Tower clamps.

I won't mention all of the headaches before this point, I'm just going to relax and enjoy something that finally went right.

A classic example of speaking too soon and cursing yourself. I love it.

So when I step on the clutch, there's a loud "Brushing" sound. I still have the car up on floor jacks, and can see the rear rotor stop when I hit the clutch, and moves when I release it.

I have the clutch adjusted out all the way and am getting full engagement.

But even slightly touching the clutch gives out a distinct "Brushing" sound.

      Pilot bushing?

        Whew..... Another lucky one.

I removed the Inspection cover and the "Brushing" stopped.

That's a whole lot easier to deal with than a bad Pilot bushing.

        Enough for tonight.
