Fascinating "Closed"

I've just read the announcement by Gary Chestnut that after the "new addition" is dedicated, there will be a dedication of the NCRS placque for NCRS's participation.
First, I'm interested in why this post is "Closed" for comment. Is anything by Gary Chestnut exalted to some status that I am unaware of?
Second, my basic question is : Why has it taken 15+ years?
Third, someone with a better keyboard than mine should total up the NCRS contributions to the NCM startup.
