Would a third week Jan dated carb be to late for an A22 body build LT-1?

Re: 70 LT-1 carb date
According to my ncrs "pocket spec guide" 1970 calendar, a third week of jan, runs from the 12th to the 16th (monday to Friday). the build date of the car is the 22nd which is the thursday of the following week. For the sake of discussion, lets assume that the carb was built on the 14th, exact middle of the week. It then had to get boxed, shipped to either Flint for assembly on the long block, then that engine had to be shipped to St Louis or possibly the carb shipped direct to St Louis, a max elapsed time of 8 days including a weekend-it would seem very tight-every transportation connection and transhipment point I believe, would have to be made on time or sooner. I would therefore believe that the carbs build date vis-a-vis the body build date is too soon-my .02cents and 32 years in vetts.- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 carb date
Am I correct that the carb is put on at the assembly plant? So it would not have to be dated before the engine assembly date. So why would it need to be so far ahead of car build date.
And what is the third week of Jan as it applies to holley build dates?
Terry, are you baseing your opinion on known build dates of 4555s or just that that is common time gap for holley dates to car?
Just trying to learn.- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 carb date
Keith I am not offering opinion. I am offering you factual information based on other LT1s built around the time yours was.
Your copy of the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) will tell you what parts were installed at St. Louis -- those parts will be identified with a part number int he AIM. You will find the carburetor among those listed numbers.Terry- Top
