    TI ingition for LT-1 1971

Am getting some miss firing as evidenced by a slight engine shake every 15-30 seconds at 2-3000 rpm. Watching a timing light flash confirms the spark miss, on any wire.
I am thinking about having the TI distributor checked out and/or rebuilt.
Who does this well and reasonably?
    Thanks,
    Ted

Dave Fiedler at TI Specialties is the source for this work. If by "reasonably" you mean "cheap", I don't think you'll find anyone.

I would send the distributor, coil and amplifier to him for check-out and service.

Before you criticize the TI system, are your plugs and wires in good shape and relatively new? My 1970 LT1 ate plugs at an alarming rate; like every 3K miles.

And yes I know there were/are better functioning plugs than the green stripe Delcos. I don't want to start a flame war on that subject. I just don’t want you to overlook the less expensive possibilities.

Terry, my LT-1 does the same thing, nature of the beast I think, especially with the cold ac 43s and a holley

          I agree.

In fact I was struggling with poor engine performance and Carl Strohm suggested changing the plugs based on his Z28 experience. When I protested they had "only" 5Kmiles on them he said that proved his point. He was right.

Terry--which plugs did you switch to? I was told autolite. Mine TI now seems to be running fine so I stayed with original AC's.

I am a glutton for punishment. I stuck with AC also, but that was when AC was still making spark plugs. If I had to do it now, I just don't know.
