Yes they will fit, but they are NOT the recommended design.

        Art,

Can you elaborate why the "r" hook is better than the "T" hook?

        Thanks,

        Tom M

          Hello:
Sounds like "R" hooks are definately the way to go; but extremly hard to find.
You would think someone would reproduce the correct ones.

Re: "R" Hooks for my C2

I found them easy to get, of course I live in a large metro area. I was able to find a towing supply store right off the interstate less than twenty miles from home by using the search function of the Internet. They made only a small dent in the plastic.

Looking at towing and recovery industry suppliers is the best bet. I wound up buying a ring with all three styles (R, T and J) on it. I could cut the ring to use them individually, but so far that has not been necessary.

I did the same thing Terry. I needed all the hooks as I used to not only haul Corvettes, but Cadillacs, Packards, Reo's, Model A's, etc. Sure is handy having all of them together. You do not have to dig thru a pile to find the correct hook.

Terry, I also purchased the three styles on a ring, but since I was never going to use them like a tow truck driver, I used a the old liquid rench to remove the T and J.

It's all in the design..................the "R" hook is designed so that the T portion is to be inserted at 90 degrees and then turned back 90 degrees and then pulled towards the attaching point. Thus locking the hook into the slot. The little bent portion (the other end of the T) that ends up inside the frame and faces the attaching point along with the "pad" that ends up on the outside of the frame eliminates any up and down movement............ even if the strap loses tension.

I use the "T" hooks on my C3 with no trouble at all. maybe the slots are a little different on other models. The "R" hooks are readily available on professional tow equipment sites as well as many bodt shop supply sites for use with frame machines, I think. Chip.

Alan, Those are not options for Corvettes as far as I'm concerned.

Art will like these better #3215. R-hook on the bottom, T-hook on the left and J-hook on the right. Just so we don't get mixed up they are stamped with the letter as well.

#3275 is an action shot on the trailer -- rear of a C3, but C2 is the same.

Actually Terry, the following is the system I use. This description is from a direct e-mail request I received resonantly.
Note the "R" hook ring and the "E" track fitting are sewn
                                to the strap.
                                +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I use the strap and hooks like this: http://www.truckntow.com/pc-9772-147...k-cluster.aspx (I used a liquid wrench to remove the two unwanted hooks) with "E" Track fittings like this: http://www.truckntow.com/pc-11390-14...ty-d-ring.aspx on the ratchet ends, which fit into "E" tracks like this: http://www.truckntow.com/pc-10514-14...t-section.aspx. The "E" tracks are fastened to the floor so that the "E" track will be situated approximately 1 to 2 feet forward and rearward of the vehicle and just a few inches OUTSIDE of the tires.

The front straps go from the frame forward and OUTWARD to the “E” track on the same side. The rears go from the rear crossmember………Xed to the “E” tracks on the opposite sides.

BTW when you call truckntow you have to ask them to attach (sew) the “E” fittings to the straps.

I have towed three different type GM vehicles, Corvette, Solstice, and Envoy with this same configuration, for about 40K miles, and none of them has ever moved, not even a fraction of an inch.
