The GM #3919886 brace is the one you need. Period. If you don't have it, then you need to get it.

If that does not solve your problem, then I'd say you're using the wrong belt. As I've said many times before, I believe the belt that the AIM says was used was not always actually used. Also, there have been problems reported with lengths on reproduction belts.

So, when you're sure you have the correct brace, use the belt length that puts your adjustment bolt near the center of the adjustment slot, regardless of what that belt length is and regardless of what number is embossed on said belt.

Thanks for the help. I will go with the 3919886 as you suggested. One more thing, if you don't mind, it's on the how to. The AIM pictures are hard to discern but; do the alt.brace and the AIR brace both go on that water pump boss, top driver side? I plan on having Bill Hodel redo my AIR so I guess he would keep me out of trouble here.

      Thanks Again

The AIR brace attaches to the water pump upper left (driver) side bolt position. However, I believe the alternator brace on non P/S applications attaches to lower inward bolt hole on the front of the cylinder head.
