Yes, I have an inquiry into him and another source, but no answers yet. I am not optimistic about finding one. This graygracy eBay guy has tons of positive feedback though, wonder if it is real?

You have been warned too many times buyer beware.

The thing to do is go there, and if you have what you want in your hand and like it and his price, pay for it and run...

Too many people have told you otherwise.

I have just started my '77 project and know price isn't everything, it's the service that goes along with it that is the real seller. I'd rather pay more for service than less for BS.
Thanks for the info, I will scratch them off my list

            Mike:

This is why joining a area NCRS Chapter is so important. You learn, from fellow members, who to purchase parts from, tips on doing some of the work you are not familiar with, and who to have work on your Corvette, when the need arises. Plus, the camaraderie enhances the Corvette ownership experience. IMHO

Just a point of correction in case I am understanding you correctly. Goat Hill Classics (aka Paul Baker) is not, as far as I know, either associated with Chicago Corvette or a by-gone aka for same. It does seem that a lot of folks have reported problems with both Chicago Corvette and Goat Hill Classics but I don't think those two firms are connected in any way. They're even geographically far-separated. Chicago Corvette is located in the suburban Chicago area and Goat Hill Classics is located in Long Beach, California.

By the way, does anyone know if Al Fierke still actually owns and operates Chicago Corvette? When I have seen their booth at various shows I've been to in the last few years I have not seen him there.
Goat Hill and Chicago Corvette are definitely separate organizations. Paul at Goat Hill is slow, but what I've gotten from him has been right on.

Chicago Corvette is bad with a worse reputation; just look in the achieves.

I might as well add my two cents in. I bought a big block 66 smog pump mounting bracket years ago off of e-bay from Miztercarb, overpaid for it and it ended up finally coming from Chicago Corvette after weeks and weeks of threatening to give negative feedback and take legal action. When I finally got the part, it was a poor reproduction that I had to modify to even make it workable. Wow. Icing on the cake. I ended up leaving negative feedback (even though the Ebay folks try everthyhing in the world they can to have you be 100% positive even though some jerk is trying to take advantage of you).

Bottom line is, I'll never do business with either entity again and Chicago Corvette literature goes straight to the burn plant. Nope, I won't appologize that I don't even recycle that trash.

Like others, it would be nice to be given a heads-up about individuals with poor business practices that advertise through our society. Potential sanctions of some sort seem to be in order.

Was the 66 AIR pump bracket you got from them a CAST IRON bracket? I've never seen a reproduction of this bracket, poorly done or otherwise.

                    Joe,

Yes, it is a cast iron bracket. The quality was not what you'd hope for and I had to grind it down a bit to make it fit perfectly. I guess it does the job and has the right part number on it and to 99.9% of the world it looks absolutely correct. It did not have "GM" on it. I remember after I got it in the mail from Chicago Corvette, I found it in their catalog. They may not offer them still, but 4 years ago they did.

                    Hope that helps.

joe: when i restored my 67 435 smog vette, there were cast iron repos available. that was back in the mid 90's. the repo LACKED the GM logo on its exposed face. finally found an original and paid dearly.mike

Yes, I'm sure they got into you deeply for an original. This was a Corvette-only bracket and used for only 2 model years.

I've never seen one of these reproductions. I wonder if they were cast up by that old, I believe now-defunct outfit in Ohio called Gentile Corvette? They made several reproduction cast parts; some were pretty good. They were most famous for their "heavy duty" rear end covers.

They could not legally put "GM" or, even, the GM part/casting number on them. However, I think they used to put the casting/part number on the pieces anyway. I guess they figured that putting the "GM" would be going "too far".

                          BUYER BEWARE.
Graygracy aka CC also has a Ebay Store under the name "Mechanical and More".
As far as Ebay feedback goes, it is a POOR indicator of actual performance.
Ebay has watered it down to the point where it means very little.
