Well, I guess I have a part so rare that I didn't even know it existed. Was there something like an L-88 passenger car?

The post by Douglas is mostly correct.

The original tube, 3879941, was designed and released for passenger car use, (Chevelle?) for the 66 model year and was only available in service. (Chev parts dept)

The 3888265 was released for Corvette early in the 66 model year (November 65) for the (never released) 66 L88.

As Joe L mentioned, the Corvette tube was discontinued in 1971. The passenger car tube was still available in 1980 as I ordered/received two.

I had an original Corvette tube at that time and I can verify the fact that the baffle and tube above the lower bracket is the exact same as the passenger tube.

There was no such thing as a "header package" or option for factory installed headers that I know of for Corvette. There was an option number for Camaro Z28 that got you a set of tube headers right from the factory but they came in the trunk, not installed on the vehicle.
I still have the unique part number for the 67 (only) tube headers.

All 20 of the 67 L88 cars were assembled with the 3888265 road draft tube. It was part of the L88 option.

I'm not sure if ANY Corvette ever left the St Louis assembly plant with tube headers installed on the car.

The 3879941 road draft tube was specifically designed for passenger cars and the 3888265 was specifically designed for 67 Corvette.

That's a good question. I've never tried to install the passenger car tube on a Corvette.
My guess is that the passenger car and Corvette tubes are not interchanceable because of a difference in configuration. ??

A REAL tank sending unit for a 63-67 36 gallon tank.........particularly NOS. I've had two of them and let them go, thinking I would not need them....................and guess what.................now I do.

67 Big block A.I.R. Bracket. anyone have one?

Bill Hodel had one a couple of years ago. If I remember right, he wanted $750 for it. I passed, but it may be a tolerable price now if he still has it.

I've had several of these also but yours looks like the tube for passenger car, not Corvette??? The configuration near the bottom is different.

I chanced upon a picture of a loose 67 L-88 road draft tube in Noland Adam's book page 426. The shape of the tube on mine is exactly like that shown in the Adam's book, but the lower bracket on mine was bent. Perhaps the bent bracket made it look like the non-Corvette tubes you had seen.

I found a picture of an L88 Corvette road draft tube. (not the pic I was looking for though)
The configuration of the upper section of both the Corvette and passenger tubes look exactly the same but the the section just below the lower bracket that is attached to a clutch housing bolt is configured much differently.
The difference in configuration would have been because of differences in the chassis.
The 3883265 Corvettte tube is on the left. The 3879941 passenger car tube is on the right.

You are correct. The road draft tube in the Noland Adams picture does appear to be shaped exactly like yours. It is also a road draft tube for a passenger car.
Below is a GM photo of a new 67 L88 engine with a correct tube. Note that there are only three bends from top to bottom.

I haven't seen the picture of the reproduction tube for Corvette but I have to assume that it looks just like the one in my photo.
