    1965 Heater/Radio Controls Light

    OK, the guy's got another PV question!

    On the 1965, there is a lamp which fits below the clock and above the radio which is intended to light those controls when the rest of the cluster is lit. This lamp has a little bracket on it which slides on and connects to a "tang" on the bottom of the clock mount.. That clock mount is plastic/fiberglass so I do not see when this particular lamp get grounded. Mine does not light unless I create a ground.

    Can anyone tell me how to ground this lamp properly?? My guess is that I could bend the little bracket so the lamp housing makes contact with the top of the radio, or I could just connect in a small ground wire.

    Thanks again.... it's Marlborough or bust!!!!

    Joe,

    check again the clock mounting bracket is metal and riveted to the dash. The clock gets grounded then make sure the clock grounds to the metal plate then the light retainer grounds to the metal plate. Simple set up. Just scratch the paint to make your of grounds if necessary.

        Joel -

        The upturned end of the retainer tang on the "torpedo" lamp housing also provides a ground where it touches the outside of the clock case when installed.

          Hi John;

          Thanks for the info.. I sanded that mounting tang but could only manage intermitten operation..so I ran a ground wire from the torpedo to the radio mounting bolt.. works like a champ...

          Regards,
