Dye to Change Whitewall to Redline?

I was considering buying Pirelli P4000 based on Duke's recommendation and having a redline added by Diamond Back tire. After several contacts with Diamond Back, they quote a price of $285 plus shipping and they only have 215/70/15. I seem to recall that there is a red dye that you apply to a whitewall to convert it to redline. I Googled it and checked the archives with no luck. Is anyone aware of a red dye and how effective it is?

Try DupliColor "hot tires"...seem to recall a thread on it. Did see some up at the Wisc. regional this summer that were done with a gold vinyl dye. Looked good from 10 feet.

      Jim,
Thanks for the tip. I checked the Dupli-Color website and they do have a dye/paint in red. They give a list of the stores that "may" carry the Hot Tire product.

      Regards,
      Rick

        Rick,

You can get it from Summit Racing. But I warn you the pen product may be good for coloring raised letters, but for a wall area I did not have any luck with this product. I was trying to change red to white.

I changed Goldlines to Redlines and they came out flawless and undetectable. Bought from Sid Drucker Assoc. 845 436 5622.

I have used Sid Druckers products also, been coloring the thin WW on the Michelin Symmetry 215-70's, he has a winter number and a summer number, I think the winter one is in Florida. He can supply white, two different shades of blue, gold, and red. Great product, good guy. He also has a sample kit.

              Brian & Bill,
The phone number provided is for a fax machine. By chance do either of you have another phone number?
              Regards,

Google doesn't help much. I did find a Sid Drucker Assocs. at 3438 Wilson Ave., Bronx, NT 10469. No phone though. Let me know if you find his product since I want to do what you're doing to your tires.

BTW I found Sid in a Hemmings under services offered back in 2004. Good luck.

                    Hi Guys,
Here is the current contact info for Sid, I bought my kit from him around 5 yrs ago after an extended search for someone who could supply what I wanted.

                    Tel # 1-718-881-6456

                    Summer address:
                    Sid Drucker Assoc
                    PO Box 396
                    Woodridge, NY 12789

                    Tel # 1-845-436-5266

He offers a great product,I spent a great deal of time speaking with him before trying his products, I cannot understand why it has not taken off other than it really is not marketed well.

What I got for around $130 delivered is a kit with 4 colors of dye, light blue, dark blue, 9kit usually only has the one dark blue but he made a light blue for me special) gold and red, 4 oz bottles, they go a LONG way! I have used them all with good results. Kit is supplied with intructions, tools, etc. If you call him, feel free to tell him you got the info from me. If anyone wants a photo of his kit send me an email to wcaldwell01@snet.net and I can send you one, I have no idea right now how to post one here.

                    Good Luck!
                    Bill
