    C2 Air Conditioning Round Vents

    Good evening,
Can someone please tell me the outside diameter of a factory air conditioning round vent? I would also like the outside diameter of an aftermarket air conditioning vent (such as Vintage Air). I am working on a "poor man's air conditioning" project and need this information to complete the job. Once I'm finished, I will post what I did to make the ride more comfortable for both the driver and passenger. It's not real air conditioning, but it is fan cooling that really helps, looks very good, and can be done for about $ 230.00 . Stay tuned!

    Thanks in advance,
    Roger (50141)

Early '65 A/C factory vent; without dismantling to remove the chrome-plastic ball, it is 2_3/8" across at the opening, probably another 1/4" if one was to remove ball from housing and measure true ball OD.

The black plastic housing of the ball is 3_1/8" OD. I could dismantle and take pics, but hoping this is sufficient.

      Wayne:
Thank you so much for the information -- that's exactly what I needed. Please, don't dismantle anything since your description and dimensions have answered my questions. If it's not too much to ask, I could also use the inside diameter of the chrome ball (where the air flows).

      Best regards,
      Roger (50141)

Just two screws to remove the ball (duct wasn't installed in the car anyway).

Ball ID front (view in pic) 2.24"; rear (sharp edge, no smooth ridge) 2.37"; Max OD ball 2.745".

          Wayne:
Your photo and measurements are very helpful -- thanks again! I am able to purchase inexpensive vents that are just a tad smaller than the factory vents, but they look very similar. For my application, they should work quite well. I am hoping to complete my project this weekend and will post some photos along with a description of what I did to create my "poor man's air conditioning". Thanks again for your time!

          Stay cool ,
