JM say that the gear shift cannot be moved out of park w/ key the out of ing. switch, I can however move the shifter about 3/4" with the key out, is this a normal operation? It does not go any further, there does not appear to be any adjustments that can be seen from below at the transmisson. or the interlock cable. what do you think?

If you need to make an adjustment it is made by loosening the two bolts on the plate at the bottom of the steering column that the cable attacthes to. Rotate the bracket and retighten the the bolts it may help.JM say that the gear shift cannot be moved out of park w/ key the out of ing. switch, I can however move the shifter about 3/4" with the key out, is this a normal operation? Re: 72 gearshift interlock thm400
Lyle or board member, what locks the lever on shift tube in the column for interlock when the key is turned off? The lever has free play which I beleive is the root of my shifter movement when key is in locked position.( tilt and tele column)New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
