    65 Tele Rag Joint

Could someone describe what the coupler looks like for a tele column or if they ave a picture i they could post it. Also is there any casting number on either flange?
    Thanks

    Sheldon-----

Search for a thread entitled "66 L36 Harmonic Balancer, Steering Coupler" by John McRae. In that thread I posted photos of the coupler you seek info on.

The coupler pictured may not be exactly, in every way configured like the coupler that was originally installed. However, this is a 65-66 with tele coupler.

Send me your e-mail address so I can attach pictures. My 65 has the tele wheel and the coupler has never been touched.

This is a scan of the engineering drawing for the 1965-66 C2 Corvette Telescoping Column Flexible Steering Shaft Coupling Assembly 5692974.

It indicates that the coupling assembly should have been painted black before it was shipped from Saginaw Steering Gear. I don't know if your information would prove otherwise. Interestingly, the flex couping assembly drawing for the standard (non-adjustable) column does not have a paint specification.

          Jim,

I sent you some pics. You can tell that it was definately painted black at one time (long ago).
