Here is what I found on a Chevelle website. It was written by a long time NCRS member though. PT

The following are a list of zone numbers attached to the corresponding zone name which should be accurate for most late 60s - early 70s applications. If you don't have any idea where the car was sold originally, but DO have the zone and dealer numbers, then this should help you narrow the search somewhat. Keep in mind that some zones covered a very large geographical area while others were quite small.

The dealer codes are in alphabetical order for each zone. Dealer 239 is Harrod-Early Chev in Winchester, Ky. i would be looking for dealer 236 with the letters " Harr " such as Harris, Harrison in the Ky area.
