1961 Balancer

I am in need of a balancer (3764318) for a 1961 315-HP Fuel Injected engine. I have the correct high horse balancer on my 1961 270-HP engine, but as everyone knows, the original high horse balancers (3764318) are very hard to find. What would be a good replacement balancer while I am looking for the correct balancer? If a person was going to reproduce the correct balancer, what would be a good core balancer to start with? What problems would one run into while trying to machine a balancer that looks like an original high horse balancer?

I'd install a still-available GM #3896904 and I wouldn't look back. I'd leave it there.

Personally, I wouldn't even attempt to modify a balancer by machining it down.

You can buy a 3896904 for about 50 bucks, or less.

Ordered the GM 3896904 balancer this AM, $46.00. I will keep looking for an original 3764318 balancer, but I think the chances are slim to none.

Purchased it from a local Chevy dealer. It was back ordered and I should have it the first week of November.

Usually, "partsladi" offers very good prices on GM/Delco items. This one is a big exception, though. I don't know what they're thinking; this is about twice GM list.

I have nothing against her. It's ALWAYS a good idea to shop around. eBay doesn't always have the best price on new stuff. In fact, I can almost ALWAYS find a better price if I just google it and check out various retail sites. I especially like RockAuto.com, though they don't seem to have it

I wasn't posying it for the price, someone asked for a picture so I posted it. Agree with Joe usually she is very competative in her pricing.
