    67 Ash Tray

How does one identify if an ash tray is original? Mine appears to have ACC stamped on the side. Tx

    Joseph----

That's how you identify it. However, that does not mean it's necessarily original to the car-----it's just the same as the one that was originally installed in the car. It could have originated in another car or it could be an earlier SERVICE piece. No way of knowing, for sure.

        Joseph,

I assume you mean AAC, not ACC. And by the way, they're reproducing them with the stamp now too.

Note, Service replacements may have the AAC stamp if you run your finger around the edge of the cigar snuffer you should be able to tell the difference between an original and service replacement. The service replacement would have a sharp edge vs original's smooth edge.

Also note for those of you installing the ash tray the snuffer should be in the back when installed

Howard, tx for the info. For clarification, when you say the snuffer in the back, do you mean closer to the console side?

              Joe:

snuffer should be orientated to the rear of the car, closest to the seatbelt retainer.

Also worth mentioning that the late GM service versions were indented in the area where the "nubs" are stamped that provide the positive retention. That meant that they did not "snap" out when removed, a source of PV failures. A little straightening of the bowed surface will return them to the original configuration.
