Info needed on this TI Amplifier

I am trying to learn a little bit about the TI amplifier in my car. Clearly this unit has been opened up, as indicated by the blue silicone. But I do not know what the inside looked like originally. Is this board a replacement? Are there clues as to where it is from if so. Finally, I did not see any part numbers. Should it have one?

    Thanks.

      Thanks Clem,

I've been told there are "quality" aftermarket and "cheap". Any way to tell which this is?

You might want to remove the silicone and not use any when you put the unit back together. The blue contains acetic acid and will corrode the internal componets over a period of time.

          Dick,

Should I use any type of sealant (clear silicone or gasket sealer) or is there a gasket that should be used?

          Thanks.

originally a gasket was used. Dave Fiedler (ad in "Driveline" ) may be able to help there.

Larry -- yes a replacement, probably from M&H (see thumbnail for one I bought in 1995). Haven't tried it yet, but I hear they are quite dependable, as Clem has said. No number, but I think the white ink stamp '9512' is probably the year and the week of manufacture. The Driveline shows another reproduction now being offered, but I have no opinion on that versus the M&H. With modern electronics, both are no doubt a vast improvement over the factory circuit boards and components. Haven't checked if the major re-pop catalogs offer gaskets as well.

Big photos might also be of interest --- Tech & Service bulletins from 1967 when GM was beginning to address the problem of moisture. There was a change in backing plate and gasket designs over the '67-68 model year. Both TI boxes in the pic are part # 1115005, which you can see stamped by the middle mount bolt hole, by the Delco sticker. The one on the left is the '64-6 (maybe early '67) and the new backing plate on the right (note width around the attaching screw).
