    Lynn,

I like the way you think! The new garage idea has been shot down. Right now my only way into the attic is an access panel. I'm far too lazy to drag a ladder from the garage to get into the attic. I'm gonna hire a carpenter to put me in some of them pull down stairs. Then look out, I will really be able to accumulate some crap! At least for a little while.

Re: Should i throw the old stuff out

Thanks Joe, what's funny is my wife wants/would at any given moment to buy a C-6 with no place to put it. When I told her that we needed another garage to put it in, that got shot down!?! I'm confused.

            Lynn,

It sounds to me like your wife has still got it. Keep after it, maybe you'll catch her at a weak moment and get your C6 after all.

I regret discarding anything origional away. I trashed origional exhaust system, exhaust tips, and door panels and wish I still had them for reference. Ed

Re: Should i throw the old stuff out

Be really cautious about throwing stuff away.....I learned (over and over) the hard way.
Currently selling a lot of my stuff on eBay (non-car related), but I do that in stages....first round stuff, then second round, and on until I have just the stuff I really want or the room I need. (For more stuff? Dick is right..you fill up the empty spaces.)
Even so, just recently junked something that I really wished I hadn't.

The car stuff? Late husband said don't get rid of anything......so, not to risk a lightning bolt from above, it will all stay right here. (Though carpet in Corvette is basically dust, so probably safe to pitch that.)

The lumber, pipe, rock, etc. piles outside I actually rummage through and use on a fairly regular basis.
So it just comes down to how much storage space do you have, how tolerant is your living partner, do you like to 'invent stuff', ...........

                  Lynn,
Don't know if this would work for you, but agree to buy the C6, then a few days (or weeks) later ask your wife how she would like the garage to put it in.
Friend of mine really wanted a dog, but his wife didn't, so I suggested he
get her a dog for her birthday. Worked great, but you need to really be careful with this approach.
I disavow all knowledge of this "advice".

Restoring a 65 also. Had to buy new door panels but
could not throw away because they were dated May 1965
on the back side. Yes they are cracked.
Yes garage looks like a junk yard.
Just maybe when iam done with restoration i will clean it out.

Bill, Once you are through with your resto you are not going to have anything to do but sit at the computer and give advice about the originally of parts because you saved all yours. If you throw out you won`t have anything to do but be bored. Save that old stuff! Mike

If it is taking me 27 years to do a restoration how many do
you think it will take to clean out my garage. Maybe i
will invite you to indiana and we will just sit on the porch in
our rocking chairs and talk about how it used to be.

                          William,
Why are you racing through this restoration ?(27yrs)
                          I started my "66" in 1978,its a hobby right?
                          Along the way you have to take care of things ie;
                          health(a little OHS),grandkids,and don't leave out the
little lady's plans. But it's all comming together now.
Got to get her done before any more garage rash
                          happens...
                          And yes I have the orig./door panels/carpet/rad/
                          floor mats/paint chips/ex-manifolds etc.
Once I joined NCRS and read articles by one of our
great members SAM FOLZ.His words ring in my ears
SAVE THE ORIG. PARTS,THROW NOTHING OUT.
By the way HOW BIG IS THAT PORCH?

Well, at least you won't be rocking and saying; "Well, I coulda, Well, I coulda". There are lot of old folks that end up on the porch rocking and wishing they would have at least tried to do something they wanted to do all during their lives. As fo me, I've tried to avoid ever getting into that situation - if I live that long. Still have not bought a rocking chair.

Thats right STU,and believe me when I tell you,
yea its been a long time in my garage, but she never
disapoints me/and she is always there when I come
back.Ithas been a fine journey, and continues to be.
One more thing, back in "78" when I bought most of thr resto
                              parts,the were from the GENERALS (GM) stock,and @ "78" $$$$
the corvette gods were with me on that one.(ask the little lady
now if the corvette was a good investment)

I sold a lot of old parts to get out of the way but wished I had taken more pictures.

One persons junk is another's...I've seen a lot of parts that I thought were useless gain new life with someone who is clever about repairs so why not go ahead and put everything up for sale. I ended up with some boxes of parts slower to sell that I just grew tired of messing with and took over to a local Corvette part/repair shop I do business with and just gave it to them. A little good will now and then never hurts and maybe they could save somoene some repair costs down the road plus, they have the storage room, I don't.

Hey William, speaking of clever repair, I wonder if someone could take apart repro doors and fix them to those dated backs from your 65? Why I have no idea but I've seen stranger things, heck I've probably done stranger things!
