    Another step closer!

I feel like it's Christmas morning!! I finally made contact with a previous owner that has been eluding me. Lots of research and mailings, but no luck. Came close with an address and come to find out it was his summer cabin, all I had was street address, needed PO Box! Last week on a whim, I searched the name on Facebook, sent a message to a listing that felt right...and it was him!!! So now I'm back to 1978. He owned it until the early 90's. Just starting conversation. He bought it in Norfolk, VA, says there is an interesting tale about that (waiting to hear that one). He recalls it having GT Mag wheels and crimped sidepipes! May have some info and photos at home in Michigan. He's working/living in Alabama now...hope he goes "home" soon!!

      Hi Tim,
I guess you're thinking like a detective. You have to keep shaking the tree till something falls out that you recognize.
I'll bet that made your day!!
      Regards,
      Alan

My daughter gave me a bad time because I was stalking on FaceBook!!! I never thought I would make contact that way.

More info: The Corvette was an ugly duckling, interior beat up, but mechanically sound. Said the engine was painted yellow!! Bought it for 3800 on July 21, 1978 in Norfolk, VA, not from the original owner. He was 27 years old. He took off the crimped sidepipes and put factory on. The rear exhaust panel was filled in when he bought it. There were some extra brackets welded on the rear end area (??). Drove it to NJ after he left the service, then on to Michigan. Was put in storage for 7 years while life happened (2 kids, engineering degree). Plans were to restore it and disassembly was started. Finally sold it in boxes in the early 90's to a Corvette restorer in IL.

Still hoping for the elusive photos and pre-1978 info!
        This is fun
