A friend of mine needs to know the casting number for his 60 vette bellhousing. I told him that one or more of you gurus would be able to tell me. Thanks in advance. Paul

Re: C1 bellhousing part number
Early cars had the cast 365. Mine is 1270 and has the cast. Not sure what Vin number they actually changed to alloy. Stewy- Top

Re: C1 bellhousing part number
The '257' bellhousing was used for passenger cars only. Some of these may be drilled and tapped for a different clutch fork stud that will not be compatible with the Corvette clutch fork. I think that later ones are drilled and tapped for the same stud as Corvette, though. However, there may be other differences that would present a problem in a Corvette application. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C1 bellhousing part number
Joe,
I just pulled that 257 housing from my 57 that was retrofitted with a 4speed when I originally purchased it. Din't mean to imply it was a vette bell but one that would fit and had the small window.
Interesting to learn of the differences.
Thanks
