    Re: Windshield Replacement

I was going to ask the same question as I have a 67 coupe and would like to replace the rubber around the front windshield. I live in the bay area and have not found a shop that I feel comfortable with. Hopefully someone in our area will have a suggestion for us.

      Re: Windshield Replacement

Be careful, I got my 67 coupe windshield replaced in 1979. When I got it back the upper stainless moulding had been beat on with what they claimed a rubber mallet. It looked like a ball peen hammer to me. I went to the dealer and they had a original in stock. I installed it myself. I did get them to pay for it. Be careful. Dale

        John-Peter,

The C-1 replacement is a job for a professional in replacing C-1 windshields. They must have experience as it is no piece of cake. Wait and get a recommendation for a person in your area. Somebody will respond eventually.

The C-2 replacement is a piece of cake compared to the C-1. Most Corvette shops can do this without any problem. I would suggest that you get a new set of moulding clips from Paragon and supply them to the installer. Don't use anybody else for the clips. They are the ONLY supplier of correct clips for the C-2's.

I live in the Bay Area and have also had difficulty in finding a qualified restoration shop. After expanding my search to outlying areas I found a shop in Roseville, just north of Sacramento, Gearhead Garage, http://www.gearheadcars.com/

Great advice and thanks. I have a good friend in Roseville and I will ask him to check our Gearhead garage.

              John,

I'm also going to be replacing my 67 windshield. I found this shop in Illinois that can provide correct, date coded glass for a large range of collector cars, including Corvettes, O.E.M. Glass, INC. http://www.oemglass.net/ . I haven't used them yet, just developing a list of resources before I get started. Gearhead Garage may have another source, just thought I'd pass this along if nothing else than to give you a source for price comparison.

                  Pete,

OEM Glass is owned by Dale Smith, one of the original founders of Bloomington Gold. You can depend on Dale to deliver a great product and he will stand behind his work.

                    Joe Ray,

Thanks for the insight...I don't believe they mention that on their web site. I'll certainly be talking with them when the time comes.
