    Harmonic Dampener Rebuild

The dampener on my 65 FI vette has rubber bulging around part of the circumference and the timing mark appears to have moved 2-3deg (I have not removed the dampener yet, just looked with mirror) The dampener is the correct "finned" style. A google search found a few re builders who use silicone rubber for about $95. Is silicone rubber the preferred solution? Any preferred vendors?

    Thanks

    Mike----

I don't know what's used for the elastomer component on these rebuilt balancers. However, the source that seems to be highly recommended by many is the Damper Doc. I believe they are located in Redding, CA. So, whatever they use seems to work well.

      Hi Mike,

My harmonic balancer needs a rebuild too. My research here and on the CF turned up "Damper Doctor" (http://www.damperdoctor.com/). A local engine builder also recommended "Damper Doctor", he sends 2 or 3 harmonic balancers from classic cars to them for a rebuild every year.

      Hope that helps,

      Scott
