C1 between seat compartment locked up

I've been having difficulties with a broken locking mechanism in the between seat compartments on my 60 and was in the process of trying to free the cylinder from the lock to take it to be repaired. I had tape around the internal mechanism to keep it from latching permanently but needed to remove this to work on the lock.
I left the lock lying open without the tape on it and went to bed one night. The next day my husband took my car out without my knowledge and closed the compartment thus sealing it closed.
Can anyone instruct me how to get the dang thing open??? I'm already in the doghouse for complaining that he locked it up!

Hmmmm, Marriage is fun isn't it. Maybe a note next time? You can see whose side I'm on!

Ok.... this maybe easy....maybe. You'll have to drop the top if it aready isn't(easy). Remove the hard top if one's on(pita). You may need spouse's assistance.

Raise the decklid. With a flashlight, look down into the top of the seat separator and you'll see the black metal latch assy and long screw with big head. That lock tab on key cylinder latches on that long screw. With a long pick or thin screwdriver poke around in there and try to push on the cylinder tab to open the glovebox door. If you can't get at it you may have to remove the decklid lock assy. 4 screws and its out to get a clear view like the pics below.

I think this is the only way to get it open based on your situation.

Can you take the chrome trim off around the button it should come out. If you can't you will have to go through the soft top lid. Stewy

Perhaps a trip to a locksmith to fix it for once and for all.

          On a related note.

That lock cylinder is held in its case by a ring. The ring has an ID of 1/2" and an OD of 11/16".

Where can I get that ring?

Chris, You might try calling around to paragon and Ecklers. I've had the better luck with both of them.
I have the hardtop on the car at present and will need to remove it. We plan to drive the car to the Carolina Panthers game this weekend (parked in a private garage) and will try to remove the top and lock after that trip. I'll let you know of the progress.
Thanks for your input!! You are the best.
