I'd love to hear his call to his insurance agent..."you see, there was this pelican..."

Serves him right for talking on a cell phone while driving. I dispise people who talk/text on a cell phone while driving! I have a great deal of difficulty understanding why some states refuse to pass legislation making it illegal to be on a cell phone while driving.
Hopefully, the car is a total loss and his insurance company will refuse to pay.

Now he knows his multi-tasking ability is limited to two activities; he'll have to give up either cell phone conversations or pelican watching while driving.

...just goes to show you that being a millionaire and a moron aren't mutually exclusive.

Oh no !! That's hard to believe. I'm feeling sick looking at the car half under water. It just goes to show you we can all have accidents in our pride and joy. I am always careful driving my toys fast or slow but it can happen. Well it looks like there could be a cheap Bugatti on the market. Stewy

Then you gotta ban texting, then you gotta ban eating, then you gotta ban doing makeup, and finally peeing into a snapple bottle while driving. Its a slippery slope!

“The Veyron’s powerful engine gurgled like an outboard motor for about 15 minutes before it died.”

He didn’t even have the good sense to turn off the ignition after the car came to a stop. I guess finding the phone and finishing the call must have been a higher priority than keeping the motor from hydrolocking.

Don't forget to ban smoking while driving!

I was thinking that if he had an old VW beetle, it would have just been floating!

Since it ran so long before stopping, I think the air intake was actually above the water line, which would have saved the engine from hydrolocking. The gurgling was probably from the exhaust and the accessory drives. I imagine the water finally shorted the ignition system. Good thing too...it would probably cost a half mill and a couple of high dollar French techs to fix that engine if it hydrolocked.

PS: Those that have been to Galveston know that it's an island reached by a slightly elevated and narrow causeway. If you lose control at any point along that stretch of several miles, you won't end up in a pasture trading stares with Bossie...there's water on both sides.

Hope the one time thrill was worth it. For two million he could just about drive a new Vette into the lagoon every week for a year . or just stick with standing at the top of a hill with his clubs and knocking brand new Titlests into the Gulf.

There were several Veyron crashes on YouTube at one time. For those of you who are not familiar with this car go to YouTube and find Top Gear's Top Speed Test of the Veyron. Great entertainment!

That photo kind of reminds me of when I was in Richomnd VA a few years ago when we passed a tall guy in a light purple silk looking shirt with the top button buttoned walking down the Interstate with a puzzled look on his face. With him was a short guy in a bright red shirt and blue jeans, who appeared expessionless. Quite a pair to be walking down the road, but it was explained when we passed a Ferrari in the ditch a hundred yards further up (I think it might have been a 360, but I'm no expert on Ferraris). The car sat perpendicular to the road, straddling the ditch with not one wheel touching the ground...ouch!

Read in the Austin American-Statesman this morning: "If you blow your nose on your ascot in public, then you are not a dignitary, regardless of how much it cost to rent that tuxedo".

From your excellent descriptions, it is clear that they were MARRIED!

Yeh, I wondered about that too. They looked like quite a pair.

My guess is that the one in the purple shirt was the car salesman.

That's not something you see every day. I wish I would've had my camera!
