paint quantity

I'll be getting ready to paint my 72 soon and was wondering if anyone would know how much paint and clear to buy. I plan on painting everything that has color. Jams, headlight bezels,etc. It is Targa blue. I'm assuming I'll put on 3 color coats and 4 clear coats. I'm trying not to buy to much extra at the crazy price of paint now and also don't want to run short and to buy more and hope there is no color change. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I just finished painting a 76 and used 3 quarts of base coat and a gallon of clear.

Rich, info from a friend who recently painted a C3

1 gallon primer
1 gallon color [almost, maybe a little less] three good coats
1/2 gallon clean, also about three coats.

It very much depends on your style. Coverage is the issue and some guys use more light coats and some guys use fewer coats with a little heavier coat each time.

Of course, people talk about how many coats, but since you are wetsanding the clear coat you are taking materials off after you put three coats on..

Did my '77 a few years ago but not BC/CC. It took a gallon with enough left for a few stone chip repair later. Did not shoot any of the holes.
