    Seats

I am trying to restore a set of C1 seat backs. They were pretty rusty and several areas have rusted through. Does anyone have good pics/diagram of these seats that I could use to complete the repairs? I also need to replace several of the springs...any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jim

James I believe Al Knoch has replacement springs, there is another company that has them but the "reports" on the Co. are very long wait, constant calling for your parts. mike

        Thanks for the reply fellas.
Dennis, do you have additional pics? I need various angles with good close ups so I can determine size and shape of the wires and bands.
        Thanks,
        Jim

            Dennis,

Thanks. Those photos do help. Are your seats from a 61 or a 62? My frame is square, not tubular like yours. Do you know if the wire basket section of the seat back is the same?

              Jim,

The frames in the photos are from my '61. I found the original tags on the seat frames, so I believe they are original.

Not sure what you are asking about with the back.

Here are some 1960 seats, about to be torn apart. I will post the tag in a few minutes.

                  Re: Seats

This 1x3 inch "seat tag" is the only one I can find. Note the backside is embossed by the numbers and letters put on (what I think is) the front.

The seats are shown above. They are from a 1960 Corvette made in March of that year...

                    Tom,

The tags look just like the ones on my '61 seats.

I kept the seat tag off my 59 seat. It's kind of delicate and my camera can not take a decent picture. Does anyone know how to decifer the information on the tag. it reads SWBP 12 8 58
                      HA? 1114-1
                      3761741-11
My car is a early Nov 58 build

                        Dennis,
The pictures you posted are the 61-62 seats. With these the covers are attached to the back and the bottom frames then the frames are held together with the 4 screws which go in through the seat back frame. The covers, foam cushions and the spring packs are attached to the frames.
The pictures that were posted are of 56 through 60 seat cushions. They are what I call loose seat cushions and are covered and then fit and sort of snap into the seat frame. The frame is one piece which will hold the 2 cushions. Very different from the 61-62 seats.
From what you show you will need the bottom seat spring packs, foam cushions, burlap, felt padding, a wire kit and lots of hog rings.
Al Knoch sells videos showing how to do the installation along with all the required parts.
Corvette America also sells all the parts and will install them for a very reasonable price.
The job is do-able but quite a task.
                        Good luck,
                        Bruce B.
