    70 LT-1 intake manifold bolts

The bolts on my intake manifold are all the same and apparently not correct. I found information on several types in the archives (N, C, RSC, TCS, M). Do all, or some, of these have a flange built in or are the simple hex head bolts? Paragon has sets but they seem to have all of one style with maybe oone odd one.

On my 1970 LT1 there are, as best I recall, seven different kinds of fasteners. That is about all I can remember from a years ago quest to document them at the request of someone on this board. I believe the only flange head bolt is the #1 for the lifting bracket, but you may want some verification of that. Unfortunately, my car is not very accessible at this time.

Well ain't computers wonderful. Look what I found:

    LT1 intake manifold bolts
Odd numbers are drivers side Even numbers are passenger side
Numbers begin at the front of the car.

#1 three lines RSC #2 three lines N inside a circle
    #3 three lines N inside a circle #4 three lines M
#5 three lines RSC #6 three lines M
    #7 three lines C #8 Stud TCS
    #9 three lines C #10 three lines C
#11 three lines C #12 three lines RSC

I have a feeling these won't line up for po po. Oh well, maybe you will get the drift.

Thanks Terry, I had printed out your information from an earlier post already, excellent. I was starting to put on my smog system (beautifully restored by Bill Hodel) and the first bolt I took out to install the pump bracket was obviously too short to accomodate the bracket. A quick look at the rest and I noticed they were all the same and all wrong. I have the feelig that finding that whole series is just going to be a bear considering I'm limited on time finishing this thing. So I'll check around tomorrow and see what I can shake up. I swear the last 5% of a restoration is ten times harder than the other 95%.

Yes that last 5% is the real booger -- no doubt about that. Hey, you know not all 1970 LT1s had that pattern of bolts, so there is some wiggle room, but the all the same headmark is a dead giveaway of a restoration kit. And when they let me judge mechanical I deduct for it -- if I remember.

Well, might as well get hung for stealing a horse as a mule so, tomorrow I'm going over to Ace Hardware and get my bolts and install them...then I'm going to paint smiley faces on the head of each one! Get my camera out for that first reaction when the hood goes up!

Hmmmm, I'm thumbing through the manual for the "extra points for making the judges laugh" section, gotta be here somewhere.
