Exactly right!!!! But most importantly, out of reach of the kids who are the future of this hobby and who won't care about or know anything about Corvettes because they have had no exposure or experience.

      Joe,

I agree with you completely on the corrosion from lead gasoline. Holley carburetor internal passages are all drilled and easy to clean and check. You are correct in that new parts will always function better than forty year old parts.

That being said, many of these old carburetors can be properly overhauled to work very nice again.

I had a terrible experience with Chicago corvette Supply and I'm sure I'll never use him again for anything.

al bought all the old out dated surplus parts that holley sold a few years ago and that is why he has them.

Clem, I did get the point right?

Joe Ray: "You mean to tell me that Al is taking advantage of the un-knowing or just the gready and they are getting what they deserve?"

            Clem: "YES !!!! to both"

You said people that chase points, which is what the grading system is all about, get what the deserve when they get cheated by Al. I read lots of posts from older guys that have had these cars since new, or since the 70's when the cars and parts were cheap and plentiful to sit on a high horse and look down on the newer guys who have to scrape to get these parts, like they are bad for the hobby. Please, lets be real here. This organization created the judging system that places extra value on original parts. I'm not naive in thinking that's the only reason people want original parts, but it certainly contributes. It's really a big competition. I have heard older members - JUDGES mind you -tell me "that's a resto-mobile" and "That car is restored right with original parts". We have derogatory terms for "reproduction", we call it "repop". So if I don't get original parts, I'm looked down on. That's why I say it is disingenous of you to say what you said.
there has been enough about the service and dealings with chicago corvette on this site and every other corvette site on the web to warn people to be careful when dealing with them. to some corvette owners it is worth the risk to get "taken" in search of the "holy grail",a cost of doing business but if you are not in that category i would suggest you check around to find out about who you are dealing with

              Tim,

To change the subject, here's what I'm using on my carb project to clean out all the fuel passages and vents in the main body, base plate and metering block:

The little brushes and vent rods come in handy

                    Go get 'em Terry.

Besides, here in Louisiana we consider your corruption quaint.
