Hey guys. If you clicked on this post you probably know my friend Rick Snow from Montreal. Sue Gray, Rick's Love, who I met about 15 years ago, the same time that I met Rick, informed me today that Rick died in a car accident yesterday in Montreal. Sue told me he was driving his 89 Corvette. She didn't have any details. Through the years of our friendship Rick has introduced me to many of his other NCRS and Canadian Corvette friends. Wendy Hall, Al Grenning, Scott Sinclair come to mind off the top of my head. Just want to pass the word to all that have had the pleasure of knowing Rick and would appreciate if you would spread the word. Gary Hathaway Memphis, TN

Re: Rick Snow
Gary,
I will say a prayer for Rick and his family, what a sobering post!
The older I get the longer the prayer list is, and the more I realize what's really important in life..- Top

Re: Rick Snow
I'm shocked and saddened to hear this. Rick is a member of our local chapter and we saw him on our fall road tour just a few weeks ago.
I don't know what to say.- Top

Re: Rick Snow
Photo is dark so I'm still not sure -- is he the one with glasses and the fancy jacket with the cross-flags ? He was always supposed to visit me in Calgary on his many business trips, and he, in turn, invited me to drop in to his downtown Montreal office on my last visit down east. Sorry now that I couldn't make it.
I, too, am speechless.- Top

Absolutely shocking and tremendously saddening. I never met Rick in person or, even, spoke with him on the phone, but we communicated via e-mail quite a bit. I will relate to you all a little story:
About 10-12 years ago, Rick e-mailed me with a request that I make him a copy of one of the earlier editions of the Corvette P&A Catalogs, offering to pay the copying costs. I responded to him that pre October, 1969 versions of the catalog were combined with other Chevrolet cars and light trucks, thousands of pages long, and beyond my capability or desire to copy. I also told him that I would not leave one of these with any commercial copying service.
Well, after several e-mails, Rick pleaded with me to at least copy one of the early Corvette-only P&A Catalogs (which were far lesser in page number, but still voluminous). He told me that he had a copy of the 1979 issue of the catalog that he would have copied and trade me for it. I didn't really need the 1979 catalog since I already had 2 editions of that catalog but it so-happened that Rick's was the third edition. Still, it wasn't really of a whole lot of value to me, but, at least, it was something I didn't have.
So, for the one AND ONLY time in my life, I agreed to copy one of the 1970 editions of my catalogs and exchange it for a copy of Rick's 1979. Following my strict policy of NEVER leaving one of these catalogs with a copying service, I stayed after work one night when I had the office all to myself and made a copy of the catalog. I wouldn't use the document feeder for fear of damaging pages or disturbing the order and copied each page, one at a time. I think it took me over 2 hours to get it all done and I said to myself NEVER AGAIN. And, I've adhered to that ever since.
So, Rick and I exchanged copies of these catalogs and, thus, Rick had the only copy of one of my catalogs EVER produced.
I've now added something to the cover page of the copy of the 1979 catalog I got from Rick in the exchange. It's pictured below. Godspeed, Rick.Attached FilesIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Rick Snow
I am truly shocked at the news of Rick's passing. My prayers and condolences go out to Sue.
Rick will always be in our hearts and minds as a great Corvette enthusiast that was always friendly and helpful. He really enjoyed driving his Corvettes, they were never treated as trailer queens.
I am proud to have been one of his friends. We enjoyed some great times restoring his two BB cars, judging together and cruising in the vettes. He spent so much time in my garage that my kids called him "Uncle Ricky"
He will be sadly missed...but never forgotten!
RIP Rick

Re: Rick Snow
This is truly sad news.
Rick was a forthright fellow enthusiast and consummate gentleman. He and Sue were often participants up in the Adirondacks enjoying the "Top Vette Challenge" events of the old days. That program always included a wild back road tour of the "High Peaks" area. On different occasions there were snow storms in July, forest blow downs in the mountains and laps at race tracks. Perfect!
He loved classic Corvettes and attended events from Bloomington to Florida and Montreal to the west coast. He will always be remembered for his smile, enthusiasm and positive support of the Corvette Community.
Through Rick many of us in the far north got to meet and make friends with Canadian NCRS members. From time to time I even got a chance to practice my fractured and forgotten high school and college French. He got a great kick out of those failed efforts.
Rick will be missed by all who knew him!
My prayers, thoughts and condolences! Al Grenning- Top

Re: Rick Snow
He is third from the left with a cap and Sue (much taller) is to his immediate left with red jacket.
Not that it's immediately relevant, but Deb and I are eighth and tenth from the left.- Top

Re: Rick Snow
I just got back from a solo road tour in and around the Montreal area and Rick was on my mind the whole way.
Very sad news.
As is the case with all chapters, our Quebec members are a close knit group. Rick will be missed.
