I can't find the specific application. However, it's a late 1970's part number. So, the "9D" probably denotes April, 1979. I suspect it's likely a starter for a truck application. However, as I've said many times before, when a starter has been through a commercial rebuilding operation, likely all that remains of the original starter is the frame (i.e. the part with the numbers on it). These numbers have absolutely no meaning, at all, when this has occurred. There were really only a few different starter frames and rebuilders use them to build up starters for MANY original applications.

Some rebuilders have even taken to grinding these numbers off to avoid "confusion". From a practical standpoint, it's the thing to do even though some valuable, original numbers might be lost forever in the process.
