C1 Defroster Vent

What material (metal, fiberglass, plastic?) were the orginal '61 defroster vents (the part that bolts below the dash) made from?

Is the material judged (I don't find it in the judging manual)? The reproductions are made of a plastic and it appears you can view the material through the opening in the dash.

I believe they are die cast pot metal or Aluminum which was then dip painted black.
Definately not plastic.

I forgot to mention that my '54 Vette defrost vents are a diecast metal. Perhaps GM continued with this same material (it may be the same part) all the way to '62.

I am wondering if this is a judged item?

Definitely die cast white metal aand dipped in paint bucket. Not judged unless they are really noticable.

Yes, in '61 the defroster ducts were still pot metal. If you are interested in originals rather then the plastic reproductions, check the usual suppliers. I have seen them available from most of the suppliers.
