Corvette Image 65 Big Block Hood & Fan Shroud

Does anyone have experience with Corvette Image parts? I'm considering ordering their complete hood assembly and fan shroud, but would like opinions on the accuracy and quality of their parts.

In particular, I would like opinions on the hood assy. I'd like to get as accurate as I can.

Other suggestions/vendors would be welcomed as well.

I can't comment on Corvette Image parts since I have no experience with them. I have heard that Sermersheim's makes good quality fiberglass panels, including hoods. They're located in Indiana.

I did a quick search and came up with no cigar on the web site as well. I heard they bought GM's molds and that's why their parts are so good. If you are a member of a local chapter you might ask around to see if anyone else is getting ready to place an order with them. You can get a substantial discount if you can pool four or five orders.

I doubt it - the heated steel GM hood mold pair weighed about 18,000 pounds, and required a huge hydraulic press to lift/separate it. I believe Sermersheim and Corvette Image use reinforced epoxy molds, and don't use a press.

You will almost certainly have to leave a message whenever you call Sermersheim, and Jessica will probably be the person returning your call. I asked her about the "GM molds" story. She has heard that story repeated many times too, but she was quick to point out that all of their molds were actually made from original Corvette parts.

Hi Joe,

If I remember correctly, a few of the Corvette vendors carry the Corvette Image fiberglass panels, and a few carry the Sermersheim, and some will sell you either one. I don't remember any of them mentioning the source of the fiberglass on their website, so you have to ask.

Either way, it might be less expensive to buy direct.

I used a big block hood from Corvette Image on a 67 nose I did last year. It will work but it is a bit smaller that an original hood, thus your gaps will be a bit wider plus it will require a bit of leveling to make it straight. This is because their parts are made from a mold of an original part as compared to the the method GM used as described in an earlier post.
I have used parts from Jerry @ Corvette Image for over 25 years, they are a repuable business and they are probably as good of an aftermarket body part as you will find.
So bottom line is that it will work but plan on doing some custom fitting along the way.
