    suggestions to restore C1 4-speed shifter?

    Hi all,

    I just disassembled my 59 4-speed shifter and have been derusting it in a dip. I notice now it is pretty pitted up. Does anyone know of a vendor that sells replacement parts for the shifter, like the pressed steel plate on the bottom for instance? I saw the anti-rattle spring bracket on CC but it doesn't look the same Does anyone know who actually manufactures the reproduction shifter out there? Maybe I could get the individual parts from them...

    Could I just have a chrome shop fill the pits with copper and then cad plate over that? Aside from the chrome shifter shaft, the whole thing appears to have been cad. Is that right?

    Ian;
    try the two links below. not sure Darrell sells parts separately, but may be worth a try. I think more than most he knows about the availability of most of the original transmission parts around. As for the cad question, can't help you there, sorry.

      Ian look up Neal Porters site www.vetteproducts.net I think he manufactures the whole shifter so I'm sure he sells bits off them. Stewy

        Thanks Stewy. I figured there was one source for those shifters. Maybe I can get them to sell me just the bits that are really bad.

        You sure you're not working for them Stewy? You love that site :P

              I suppose Paragon sell a few of his pieces so he looks after the majors first and that's fair after all they are his bread and butter ! I purchased my radiator through Paragon because it was cheaper than going through DeWitts themselves same thing. We all have to make a buck to live. Stewy
