1955 owners need some help LOOK

I know there are only a few 55 owners here but need your option ! I have a few #1118085 vacuum advances that was for #400 down , but I also have the same unit but it's stamped #085 on the flange and not the hex area . So has anyone seen or know of a #1118085 VA being stamped just #085 on it's flange as seen here .( pic left lower area ) Thanks any 55 owners that can help.

Roy;

I have a vacuum advance that is stamped 085 on the side. It is attached to an 847 distributor. Don't have a clue where it came from.

just openned a box of three 847 distributors i purchased on ebay (qcparts, 19.99 buy it now). both of the 1116085 styles that you posted came in the box! date codes on distributors, 5a7 and 5d19. the stampings are identical showing a well rounded 8 and 5 on the flange. i purchased the distributors solely for the vacuum advances with the intent of brazing the vacuum port and stamping it 1116098 until i locate original nonoperating vacuum advances. will try to get my neighbor to post pictures tomorrow. (1116098 vacuum advance-hardest part to locate for 55L!)

I've done the same thing when I see the correct VA on a old Dist , what # 55 you have must be over #400. By the way 99% of #1116085 I find are on the first design Dist (see top pic) where the hold down plate holds the Dist down , 01 to #400??????= all dated 1954
second design bottom Dist #400 up ???? all dated 1955
All Dist have the same part number
What do you thing or say!

Those master cylinder bolts and fittings are quite common. Used on a bunch of other cars. So you should not have trouble finding them.

the bolts and blocks do not go on the master cylinder! they are only used on 53-55 corvettes brake systems.

troy, noticed you have a 54. by showing a pair of CONNECTORS i figured a 53-55 owner would recognize them.

roy, in reply to dates on distributors, i have two 1116085 vacuum advances on first design distributors dated early january of 55. when it comes to the 085 on the flange the earliest i have is mid april with another in may. both of these are mounted on the second design that you have shown. noting that car #400 is built in june, with the first reported non operating vacuum advance being on car 483 (nolan adams book), can some 55s have the 085 va on the second design distributor? does anyone know when chevy stopped casting the first design and began the 2nd ?

Did all of the first design, 110855, distributors have the grease fitting, instead of the oil tube for lubrication? I have never seen one for sale with the grease fitting on it.

John! We are the only people I know that talk about the first and second "design" Dist. I'm guessing the first design Dist and VA #1116085 were installed in 01 to around 400 ??
The JM mentions the last #085 numbers may show on the VA but not (where), so being on the VA flange can be original?? It may be? I don't know if there is any documentation as to when any of these parts started like the
Dist or VA
Carbs
Linkage
Shielding tags
And so on
What do you think??

As far as I know YES up to around #400?? on the first design Dist. For Corvettes! Car may be not ,that's why you rarely see it , most Dist for sale are CAR. But it's open to decisions

Roy-
I have two 847 distributors one is a May 55, and the other is a June 55. They both have the original VA, and they are stamped 085, as shown in your picture. Here's the kicker, these distributors were made in McKinnon (GM Canada), not Anderson. So, they probably were not installed in Corvettes.

Attached Pic's of new 855 dist. dated 5 D 1 which has no numbers on the flange
dual points with a plate inside that says 855? Were the dual points added?

The other Dist. is an 847 dated 4 L 17 and has the 085 on the flange
